The second week of pregnancy
The second week of pregnancy marks the beginning of the embryonic period, and your baby starts to develop at an incredible pace. This begins with the formation of the neural tube, which will later become the brain and spinal cord.
At the same time, the heart begins to form and begins to beat around week 6. The arms, legs and other organs are also forming this week. As your baby develops, there are certain vitamins, minerals and foods that will help support the development of your baby during this time.
In terms of your own body, you may begin to experience some of the common early signs of pregnancy such as fatigue, nausea and breast changes. You may also want to take this time to start to prepare your body and lifestyle for pregnancy. This could include taking prenatal vitamins, eating healthy and getting regular exercise.
Your health care provider may also want to start testing at this point in your pregnancy. This could include a urine test, blood tests, and ultrasound to check on the baby’s development.
At this point in your pregnancy, it is important to get plenty of rest, eat healthy and talk to your doctor about any concerns or questions you have. The second week of pregnancy is a time to be aware of what is happening in your body and to start taking steps to support a healthy pregnancy.
