At 32 weeks pregnant, you are well into your third trimester and your baby continues to rapidly grow and develop. Baby is now around 19 inches long and weighs roughly 6.5 pounds. Their skin is soft and smooth and their bones are continuing to mature.

Baby’s nervous system is extremely active at this point so they are able to observe and respond to the world around them. You may start to notice patterns in their movements and they may become startled by outside sounds. Their hear and vision continue to rapidly develop.

It’s likely that you’re feeling the effects of the extra weight by now and you may be feeling increasingly uncomfortable. Indigestion and heartburn are common, so be sure to eat small, frequent meals throughout the day. Talk to your healthcare provider about other ways to help manage any pain or cramping.

Regular prenatal checkups are important during this time to make sure that baby is continuing to develop and grow properly. This is also a great time to focus on inform yourself about labour and delivery. Talk to your care provider about any questions or concerns you have about the process and discuss your birth plan.
