Affordable Fertility Clinics

Last reviewed 2026-10-27

A cheap fertility clinic is not automatically a worse one — but a low advertised price is the easiest thing in this industry to produce, and it is usually produced by moving items out of the package rather than by doing anything differently. The way to tell the two apart is not the price. It is whether the clinic will give you live birth per cycle started for your age band, in writing, and what accredits its laboratory.

Why clinics differ in price at all

Fertility treatment is a high-fixed-cost business, and the price you are quoted is mostly a function of things that have nothing to do with the embryologist's hands.

The four questions that separate cheap from thin

  1. “What is your live birth rate per cycle started, for my age band, from your most recent full year?”

Per cycle started — not per transfer, and not pregnancy rate. Per-transfer figures silently drop everyone who never reached transfer, which is exactly the group a weaker programme loses. A clinic that reports this way voluntarily is telling you something good about itself.

  2. “What does the quoted price exclude?”

Expect medication, ICSI, blastocyst culture, freezing, first-year storage and the frozen transfer. Get it in writing. A low price with six exclusions is more expensive than a higher price with none.

  3. “What accredits your laboratory, and who runs it?”

Everything rests on culture conditions, the embryologist's skill and the freezing protocol. This is the one place where cheap is genuinely dangerous, and a clinic that cannot name its accreditation has answered the question.

  4. “What does a second cycle cost?”

Most patients need more than one. The clinic that is cheapest for one attempt is frequently not cheapest for two, and this single question reorders the shortlist more often than anything else.

What a low price usually means — in order of likelihood

A note on “near me”

A large share of searches in this area attach a location — cheap IVF near me, low cost fertility clinic near me. We will be straight with you: this site cannot tell you which clinic in your town is cheapest, and any page that claims to is generating a list, not giving you advice. What travels well is the method above. Take those four questions to the three nearest clinics, then to one option abroad, and compare the written answers rather than the advertised prices.

It is also worth knowing that proximity is worth less in this treatment than people assume. Monitoring scans and bloods can often be done locally even when the collection and transfer are elsewhere — so the clinic does not have to be near you for the appointments that are frequent, only for the two that are not. Ask any clinic whether it accepts outside monitoring; the answer widens your shortlist considerably.

Got two or three quotes?

Send them. We will convert each into a complete attempt with medication and the frozen transfer in, price a second cycle, and tell you which questions have gone unanswered. If an introduction we make leads to treatment, we may be paid a referral fee.

Compare my clinics
Are cheap fertility clinics any good?

Price reflects overheads, location, marketing spend and what is bundled far more than it reflects quality. Judge a clinic on live birth per cycle started for your age band and on what accredits its laboratory, not on the headline figure.

How do I find an affordable fertility clinic?

Ask three local clinics and one abroad for a written itemised estimate, their live birth rate per cycle started for your age band, their laboratory accreditation and the price of a second cycle. Compare those four answers rather than advertised prices.

What do cheap IVF packages leave out?

Most commonly medication, then ICSI, blastocyst culture, freezing, the first year of storage and the frozen embryo transfer. Any of these can be legitimate exclusions — the problem is discovering them after you have committed.

Is it worth travelling for a cheaper fertility clinic?

Often, because monitoring can frequently be done locally and only collection and transfer require travel. Compare a complete attempt including medication and travel, then compare again at two cycles.
