Choosing a Cyprus IVF Centre

Last reviewed 2026-10-27

After a few hours of research you will have the same shortlist as everyone else — the island's long-established centres come up again and again. What you will not have is any way to tell them apart, because the public information about them is reviews, brochures and forum threads. This page is the method: six questions whose written answers actually distinguish one clinic from another, and the two figures that matter more than everything else combined.

Why the usual research does not work

Fertility treatment is the hardest consumer decision to research, for a structural reason. The people best placed to tell you about a clinic are those who have been through it — and their experience is dominated by whether it worked, which depends overwhelmingly on their own age and egg quality rather than on the clinic. A glowing review from a 32-year-old and a bitter one from a 43-year-old tell you almost nothing about the laboratory.

We do not name clinics anywhere on this site. Comparison and recommendation stay separate, so that a page you read for information is never also an advertisement. What follows works on any clinic, including ones we have never heard of.

The two figures that matter

Ask for thisNot thisWhy
Live birth rate per cycle started, for my age band, own eggs or donor as applicable, from your most recent full year“Success rate”, pregnancy rate, or per-transfer figuresPer-transfer rates exclude everyone who never reached transfer — exactly the patients a weaker programme loses. Pregnancy is not a baby.
What accredits your embryology laboratory, and is embryology in-house?“State of the art facilities”Everything rests on culture conditions, the embryologist and the freezing protocol. This is the one place where cheap is genuinely dangerous.

A clinic that answers both in writing, without being pushed, has told you more about itself than any review ever will. A clinic that deflects either has also told you something.

The other four questions

  1. Which jurisdiction are you in, and which authority licenses you?

North or south. They are separate legal systems with separate regulators, and a quote headed “Cyprus” does not tell you which applies. See IVF Cyprus.

  2. Who performs my egg collection and my transfer, by name?

In high-volume centres the consultant you speak to in the consultation is not always the one who treats you. That is not necessarily a problem — but you should know it in advance rather than on the day.

  3. What does the package exclude?

Medication, ICSI, blastocyst culture, freezing, first-year storage, the frozen transfer. Get the list in writing. See the full invoice breakdown.

  4. Who is my contact after I fly home, and in which language?

The weakest point in cross-border treatment is not the procedure, it is the six weeks afterwards. Ask for a named person, a response time and a channel.

A practical note on how many to approach

Three is the right number. One gives you no comparison; six produces noise and a month of delay that matters if you are over 38. Send all three the same written list, in the same email, and compare the replies rather than the brochures. The quality of the answer — how specific, how quickly, whether they answered what you asked — is itself one of the better signals available to you about what the next six months will feel like.

Got replies from two or three Cyprus clinics?

Send them. We will line the answers up, flag the questions that were dodged, and convert the quotes into complete attempts. If an introduction we make leads to treatment, we may be paid a referral fee.

How do I choose an IVF clinic in Cyprus?

Ask three clinics the same written questions: live birth per cycle started for your age band from their most recent full year, what accredits the laboratory, which jurisdiction licenses them, what the package excludes, who performs the procedures, and who your contact is afterwards.

Which is the best fertility clinic in Cyprus?

There is no single best clinic, and any site that names one is either guessing or being paid. The best clinic for you is the one whose outcome data for your age band and your treatment type stands up in writing.

Are Cyprus IVF reviews reliable?

They are reliable about communication, aftercare and how people were treated. They are not reliable about clinical quality, because whether a cycle works depends mostly on the patient's own age and egg quality rather than on the clinic.

What is the difference between an IVF centre and an IVF hospital in Cyprus?

Mostly the scope of facilities on site rather than the fertility treatment itself. What matters is the embryology laboratory, its accreditation and the outcome data — ask about those rather than the name.
